Avia Avi-Bolt II

Quick-entry heel and tongue grips

Toggle lacing system
No prizes for guessing which Olympic sprint champion this racing shoe is named after. An update on Avia's top-of-the-range performance shoe, it has Cantilever concave heel technology to soften impact and provide a stable heel strike. The upper is a lightweight mesh, the sockliner is antibacterial and the outsole is made from high-abrasion blown rubber for durability and grip.

The garish colours may have divided opinion among our testers but the breathability, super-lightweight feel and responsiveness of the shoe were universally popular. The quick-entry heel and tongue grips scored highly but most found the toggle lacing system awkward, with a perfect fit being difficult to find. Our wear-testers say: "The shoes are light and felt great to run in – I got a big 10K PB in them." - John Cullinane
