THE HOLY GRAIL.....MAYBE!
A few reviews say that these are a great shoe for ladies….well; they are also good for men with narrow feet! There provide a good balance between being well made and robust, without being heavy and inflexible. Good all round support and cushioning.
They are not the cheapest shoe around…but I guess you get what you pay for!
I have tried a number of different shoes in the last few years and had worn most of the available Asics shoes. The recurring problem I had was blisters and bruised toes. On any run of 10km or more, I would get a blister on the soles of both feet, at the front of the arch. Initially I thought this may be due to the socks that I was wearing, so tried a number of different types, from 1000 Miles, Hilly to X-Sock….all to no avail.
I finally decided to go to a good running shop, Sweatshop in Woking, to ask their advice…and took with me by Asics Gel Nimbus shoes. After a quick chat, a look at my shoes and feet, and then my walking gait, I was informed that the problem was probably due to the narrowness of my feet.
Apparently my feet were sliding around sideways in the shoes causing the blisters, and I was trying to counteract this by griping with my toes…suddenly everything seemed to make sense.
I spent about half an hour trying on a number of different shoes, (Brooks, Nike and Saucony) I settled on the Adidas. The shop were also kind enough to say that I if tried them out on a treadmill and found they weren’t perfect I could bring them back….another example of excellent service.
From day one…no blisters! These are the most comfortable, supportive and all round brilliant shoes I have tried to date. 800 miles and two pairs later I’d still recommend them. I may even stock pile them in case the next model doesn’t work as well for me.
With hindsight I should have known they’d be a winner, as I used to wear Adidas football boots, and loved them.
In summary, if you have narrow feet.,…buy these shoes!
