I run in Asics 1100 but can't find any new ones in my size. Should I buy Asics 1110?

Sorry, if its a daft question, but I don't know the difference.

P.S.

What are GT1110 - are these for a heavier runner.

Although given a similar title to the 1100, the 1110 are significantly different. There's a more substantial medial post which now runs under the arch rather than just under the heel. The fit is also very different - I found that in my normal 9.5 size the forefoot is too narrow and in a 10 they are too long for me.

If you have similar problems I can strongly recommend the Saucony Grid Phoenix - they are much more similar to the 1100 in fit and feel than the 1110, light and well cushioned.

Sorry dynamokev,

The 1110 is an evolution on the 1100 it's not a different shoe, built on the same last so the with fitting should be identical, the medial post is more substantial but I have found the fit in size 11 no different. I would say that for heaver runner the additional support is of benefit. I didn't find this helpful to me and moved back to my super soft Nimbus.

Am I wrong?

Not necessarily - like most things in running different things affect individuals differently. Although the new version may not feel that much different to you, for some reason I noticed a distinct difference in the fit and feel. I don't know how detrimental this is or not as I decided not to buy them having tried the Saucony, which felt almost exactly the same as the 1100, except they may possibly be a bit lighter. Horses for courses and all that.

Its interesting that a few people I've spoken to today think that the 1110 has a different fitting to the 1100.

Any other comments from anyone, please add on.

I went from the 1100 to the DSTrainer X. These were the alternative recommended to me at the running shop. They are a more lightweight running shoe. Felt great on my feet from the first run.

The DS Trainers have also been upgraded so I don't know what to have next.

i just bought a pair of these today, gave up looking for 1090s! they feel lovely. haven't tested them out yet though.

have had my 1110 for a couple of months now and they have been perfect from the start. Went to Runners Need at Liverpool Street who were really helpful. Don't know if the ladies are different to the mens though.

I bought 1090's, then 1100's and then 1110's. The only difference I have noticed is the top of the foot is very tight and the laces aren'[t long enough which means I have to overtighten these.

The fit is ok, not as good as the 1100's and the arch support is better if you need it. Again, I'm about 90kgs so don't know if that counts as heavy.

Still can't find anything better, might try out the Saucony Grid Phoenix next - thanks for the tip.

By trhe way, has anyone seen the 1110's in Sports Soccer, only £52.49. I was devasated !!

jjb sports has the 1110 for 49.99. If any one is still looking. I've just bought a pair and can run in them straight away as their so comfy.

1110 is the next step up from the 1100 - more cushioning and more stability, the shoe which would probably be more of the replacement for the 1100 is the Asics Modena.

jjb normally get there shoes from abroad so not normally the UK version.

just to say I'm now loving the 1110s i bought (for £70 aarrrgh). they definitely felt different at first but i've got used to them & they're so comfy!

Just got my 1110's delivered today. Ebay for under £45 and that's not even the cheapest, but the only supplier in my freaky size!

Previously used the 1100 and have found the 1110s to be a more supportive shoe. Tore medial ankle ligaments and broke my fibula in Feb and not 100% sure the 1100s would have been up to helping my recovery.
