ASICS GEL KAYANO 16

What a phenomenal runnig trainer. Defo the most supportive I've evr had. But dead light as well, great combo. Great on the road and training on da track. Like da colours white n gold it looks so nice!

Durable, comfortable, good performer

A good version of the Kayano - after 300 miles still feels like new (unlike Kayano 15 that went a bit mushy on top after 2-300 miles). Very good fit. Quite heavy, but then that's not a problem for the high mileage (I have other shoes to race in)

Expensive, but then I find you get what you pay for!

Worth the money as these shoes will last well over the recomended 500 miles if you treat them well (wear only whilst running, no mooching about etc..)

A good solid shoe which is ideal for training purposes and longer races.

I would suggest this shoe is for training purposes on road and limited longer races where more cushioning is required than an ‘out and out’ racing shoe. The ride is generally quite firm which is ideal on soft surfaces however there is also some flexibility allowing some cushioning on road.

Overall it is heavier than other shoes on the market in this sector so would consider it for races over and above half marathons. This shoe appeared to be best suited for road surfaces. On dusty tracks I found the shoe slipping slightly up steep hilly sections.

A good allround shoe. There were no signs of wear and tear after testing. The area where my shoes tend to wear is on the big toe area and note that this shoe has additional protection in this area which will hopefully prolong the life of the shoe.9 out of 10!

Well worth the money, I don't think you can go wrong with these trainers.

Extremely comfortable and supportive straight out of the box. Long lasting and durable.
Nice bright colour scheme (A/W 2010 in Red/White)

A little pricey
Lots of negative media/reviews
Colour options are limited

Having owned previous versions of Kayano's, I knew that I wanted some more. But I was very sceptical with the latest incarnation due to the amount of negative reviews it had recieved.
However on reading this review:

I decided that I would take the plunge and buy some. They feel just like my old ones whilst running and my only regret is that I took so long to decide on them.

Blisters!

Great cushion in forefoot and heel;
Latest version of asymetrical lacing provides a snug fit without pressure points;
Alleviates my tibial compartment syndrome (shin splints)

Heel counter causes blisters & bruising

What on Earth were Asics thinking? The rock hard, narrow heel counter of this shoe wraps into the sole underneath the heel on the medial side. With each step it feels like a hard, sharp object is protruding into the inside of my heel causing bruising and blisters from hell.
