Asics Gel Kayano XIII
The arrival of the Gel Kinsei means that the Kayano has conceded its position as Asics' flagship shoe. That said, it's still a shoe brimming with technology.
Version 13 is only a little different to number 12, with a new Gel unit in the rearfoot - in fact it's the biggest pad of Gel Asics has ever used and leads to a softer feel on heelstrike than before.
The shoe also features an improved Space Trusstic device - the plastic wrap under the arch - which provides a little more support than before. Our Shoe Lab test found the Kayano to be one of the most flexible shoes in the stability category, which helps explain the fast-feeling ride.
