SHORT LIFE; YOU CAN GET MUCHBETTER SHOES FOR THE SAME PRICE

Reasonable pronation support
Heel feels stiff preventing smooth transfer; not good for faster work
I got these as a present instead of 1100s I usually use. I used them only for shorter runs and the upper still wore away after less than 250 miles. I get old models of the 1100s for the same price (£40), they have a better feel and are much more robust.

COMFORTABLE BUT WEAR TOO QUICKLY

Comfort and support are both great - from day one.
Poor build quality. Inside near the heal started to wear away by 200 miles, approaching 400 miles uppers (across the toe) had split on both shoes. I could see my socks quite easily!

I am not heavy so would expect them to last longer than this
cheap shoe to get going in but don't expect to last.

SO COMFORTABLE THAT YOU FORGET THAT YOU ARE WEARING THEM

Cheap - I picked mine up for under £40 - yet technical and extremely comfortable.
I have not found any yet - I've worn them for about 50 miles. They seem heard wearing enough and have caused no problems whatsoever.
An excellent shoe for under £40. If you want a trainer with great cushioing and stability, the Modena come highly recommended.

GOOD SUPPORT AND STABILITY, LOTS OF CUSHIONING

Lightweight considering the amount of stability it gives. Slight elevation under the foot arch corrects tendency towards flat foot, common with pronators. These trainers feel very soft and bouncy on the road, as the gel absorbs all the impact from running (I am an average build - 55kg, 159cm).
Seams on the outer side of the shoes could potentially rub against the little toe and cause discomfort, but I have not felt it as I always wear thick running socks.
I am an overpronator and suffer from bad runner's knee. My physiotherapist advised me to get some better stability shoes, so I went to a specialist running shop and had them assess my running style and recommend what they thought was best for me. I tried a few pairs on and found it hard to decide between the Saucony 3D Grid Hurricane and the ASICS Gel Modena. The Saucony seemed slightly lighter and more flexible, but I chose the ASICS because it was wider (I have very wide feet!) and offered greater stability. The extra support for the arch of the foot is just great, it seems to force my foot more towards the correct position, whilst still being very comfortable.

DIVINE

Immediate comfort - having larger feet, there's usually a bit more of me to rub, but there was no breaking-in period required!

Support - all round help with pronation, arch and forefoot. The Speva support gives cusioning for us flat-footed clumpers, plus I have noticed a reduction in the number of joint injuries since using the Modena.

Cost - whilst not cheap, the Modena does provide good value for money.
I suspect that I won't get the longevity that would tranform this from a really good shoe into a remarkable piece of gear.
A HIGHLY recommended buy... especially for the keen, as opposed to the dedicated, runner. It gives you everything that you could want from a mid-level stability shoe, and is an excellent choice for those looking to upgrade to something slightly more technical. Give them a go... you won't be dissapointed!
