FAMILIAR AND RELIABLE

Recently bought a pair of 2140s, a good shoe which I am breaking in over shorter runs alternately with my now battered 2130s which I am still wearing for races and longer runs. 2140 feels v comfortable and supportive with good cushioning, similar enough to the 2130 in design to feel immediately familiar.
Only downside so far with the 2140 is over 10 miles rubbed a small area of the inside top of my left foot raw under the tongue of the shoe where you tie the laces. This may have been due to over tightening the laces but the shoe didn't feel tight and have never had that issue before with any other shoes so one to watch. Hope it will ease.
OK so far

As a pronator with custom built orthotics and previous injury issues am v concious re shoe choice. Tried New Balance and Brooks before buying the 2140s but the NB felt big and the Brooks hard, but maybe familarity with Asiscs got in the way a little bit. Tried all three on treadmill with video analysis at Runenrs Need Holborn.

I've got the extra wide fitting which for both pairs of shoes; the extra room suits my big flat feet! With the 2130 proved a godsend as with previous shoes have had standard fittings in various brands have rubbed and resulted blisters in hot weather and losing a few toenails racing in severely cold/wet weather.

MISERY

If they fit your feet they are probably good.
I've just completed a long distance walk in them and my feet are so badly blistered that I have had to take time off work, and yes I have tried compeed, vaseline, doubleskin socks, white spirit etc. I've never had this problem with any other shoes so i can only assume it is my feet and asics not getting along together. I don't know if it's the new insole material but my feet just got hotter and hotter until the skin started to come off.
I appreciate that my review is very biased but I can only speak from experience. I will never wear asics again.

A COMFORTABLE RELAIBLE SHOE

I bought this shoe half way through my build up to running a marathon as I have had the previous incarnation (2130). I thought I knew what I was getting but was surprised. This shoe is even more comfortable feeling like a slipper without being loose. The cushioning is improved which is important for the heavier than average runner like myself.
The 2140 could do to lose some weight, however, this is a minor complaint outweighed by all of the positives.
A great value for money shoe which is has made small but significant improvements on the previous model.

DECIEVING

Soft interior felt really nice and comfortable on my feet. They seemed to correct my running posture well as my aches and pains went away, for a while.
The position of the support on this shoe gave me really bad blisters all along the arches of both my feet. I persisted to use them for approximately 300miles thinking that blisters were all part of marathon training. These blisters went away when I purchased a different shoe.
I was disappointed with this shoe as initially they seemed to work really well for me but after only 100 miles they started to give me real problems. None of the assistants in the specialist running shops I visited suggested that blisters might be down to the shoe as they were in really strange places.
