Asics GT-2140

Soft midsole

Lack of flexibility

Updates to the 2140 are many but minor. A memory foam sockliner replaces the old compression moulded liner, so that the soft try-on feel lasts longer. The Solyte foam in the midsole has been improved so it's softer and the Space Trusstic (plastic bridge with air pocket) is more rigid on the inside of the foot. The outsole is more flexible and heel fit has been improved.

Our wear-testers commented that they were expecting a "decent" shoe and felt that the 2140 is just that, but none noticed a softer feel or greater flexibility. However, Asics has been deliberately cautious about updating its most popular stability model, so long-term fans of this line won't be disappointed with this latest version.

Our wear-testers say:

"Overall the shoes were excellent. I liked the firm control and good stability without them being heavy or stiff." - Lis Pritchard
