I'm 40 years old,14 stone/90Kgs, I Over-pronate, I've been running for 18 months, I have Taylor-made Orthotics, I need New running shoes;
Question, Do i go for? - Motion control shoes, Stability shoes with moderate control features, Cushioned (or 'neutral') shoes ? AAARRGH !
Normaly I should go for "Motion control shoes" but as i have orthoses I been told to go for Neutral.
What type do i go for ?
As trainners at £60 to £100 a time & SORE feet, Ankles, Knees etc Too painful!
Please Help.

My pod told me to go for neutral shoes as the orthotics are now doing the work.

Usually, orthotics are made to go in neutral shoes as they should do the job that the motion control element would do. However, it's best to check with whoever made the orthos just in case they were taking the shoes you were wearing at the time into account.

Good news is that neutral shoes are generally cheaper than MC shoes.

I over pronate too and have tailor made orthoses and I still wear Brooks Ariel (female version of the Beast) which is a motion control shoe. Both my physio and podiatrist say its the right shoe for me. Personally, I'd ask your own podiatrist for advice as he knows how severe your pronation is (mine is quite bad apparently).

The orthotic will not be able to work properly in a cushioned shoe. Most often the best advice is to go for a Stability shoe as the cushioning will collapse under the orthotic and it will not support the foot as it is meant to
