New Balance 769

Summary | Full Review | Reader Reviews | Gallery | Specs | Discussion
Improved fit

On the stiff side

The 769 is built on the new, lower-profile PL-1 last for a better fit and feel. The heel geometry has changed and the Abzorb gel in the heel has been re-shaped with flexgrooves to allow for better compression, all adding up to a softer landing and more controlled pronation. The midsole has been upgraded to Acteva Lite foam.

Like its predecessors, the 769 is on the stiff side but the ride is smoother and faster than before – which might explain why our testers (experienced wearers of this line) felt it was much lighter even though the weight has barely changed. The improved fit, especially in the forefoot, was noticeable too. Our wear-testers say:

"I always wear New Balance well and these did suit my feet. They felt very light and I liked the colour." - Sarah Overall
