My First London Marathon: Thoughts
By Kim Ingleby on 20/04/2011 10:44:34
General race day pondering and thoughts to consider :-)
, meats, salads etc – perfect set up for race day. A large steak was offered followed by a poached egg for breakfast, but I choose to stick with my usual plan! The morning of the marathon – porridge, cinnamon, honey, strawberries, sunflowers seeds (yum

My VLM 2010: Unicorn (3:00.18)

How losing GPS signal in the Docklands upset my race-day strategy
, but at the the end my Garmin said 26.7 miles and 3:00:18. Reviewing the data, the GPS seemed to lose its accuracy a bit in the Docklands. What is most annoying though is that I was not too tired after the race. I'm not too stiff today and know I could have run

By Pingu1874 on 26/04/2011 15:25:49
My VLM experience, taken from my blog at http://pingu1874.wordpress.com/ and written the day after the race.
Yesterday I completed the Virgin London Marathon. I have so much more to say about the whole experience that I really don’t know where to start.Sod it, I’ll launch straight into the race itself which didn’t entirely go to plan! To set some context

The Medals
My first marathon completed and what a great day the London Marathon was (especially racing to Wembley after to see Stoke thrash Bolton 5-0) but the slight disappointment is the medals, there isn't anywhere to scribe your name and time onto them :(

My VLM 2010: Dizzy (4:03)
By Dizzy on 03/05/2010 11:18:32
Marathon jinx - every time I enter a marathon, something always goes wrong, but I keep coming back for more...
I love marathon running, but at times it feels like marathons do not like me. Something always seems to go wrong, but what the hell, who cares? One day I will run a marathon where I smash out a huge PB - that day will be the next time I run a

My VLM 2010: Graham Goddard

I was tripped from behind and stumbled - within minutes, my left ankle was the size of a large golf ball
This was my second London Marathon (fifth marathon in total). Having run my first London Marathon very badly last year - due to lots of niggly injuries throughout training and major cramp on race day at Mile 14 - I was determined to put it right

A 95-Mile Warm Down
By Sam Robson 2 on 21/04/2011 19:24:11
Anything to avoid the trains...
I have never run a marathon race before, so it was a fantastic opportunity to run in the Virgin London Marathon for my first. However, I decided to go the extra mile, and tacked on a little post-marathon run to my day - an extra 95 miles to be exact

By Paul Butler 3 on 26/04/2011 17:45:45
My second London Marathon, I finished in 4:14 and loved every step of the race.
Well, I have just completed my second London Marathon. My first one in 2009 was the last Flora sponsored event. I ran 4:27 in 2009 and was really disappointed and it was only a few days later I started to enjoy my achievement. This time in 2011 I

My VLM 2010: NotReallyARunner (6:10)
By NotReallyARunner on 04/05/2010 21:37:52
When my right arm was really aching the next day, I realised that it was from all the high-fives with the kids along the way – great fun!
I first applied to run the London Marathon 27 years ago, then 15 years ago. Six years ago, I made the decision that I would keep on applying until I got in as I’d heard that if you applied six years in a row, you’d automatically get a place. Last
