By moof on 27/04/2010 22:45:31
I'm very happy with the time I achieved, but how the hell do you train for those last four miles?!
Well done to everyone who achieved their goals. This was my first marathon and my sixth "race". I managed to finish in 3:10.16. I'm very happy with the time I achieved, but how the hell do you train for those last four miles?! At 42, I think I may

I have never experienced anything like it and suspect no other race will ever live up to the London Marathon
food, people offering you sweets, fruit, and high-fives! The camaraderie of both runners and supporters - it was brilliant. I have never experienced anything like it and suspect that no other race will live up to the London Marathon. The best moment

My VLM 2010: Karen Robinson (finish volunteer)
By Karen Robinson 4 on 29/04/2010 09:05:14
Unable to train due to injury, I volunteered at the Primary Finish instead - what a great day!
so I was able to defer until next year. And instead of running it as planned, I volunteered to help at the Primary Finish. I had helped last year, counting timing chips and thoroughly enjoyed it. It gives you a different perspective of the race. I

My VLM 2010: NotReallyARunner (6:10)
By NotReallyARunner on 04/05/2010 21:37:52
When my right arm was really aching the next day, I realised that it was from all the high-fives with the kids along the way – great fun!
I first applied to run the London Marathon 27 years ago, then 15 years ago. Six years ago, I made the decision that I would keep on applying until I got in as I’d heard that if you applied six years in a row, you’d automatically get a place. Last

A journey through pain - my experience of hitting the wall and making a quick mental recovery
My name is Alex Milne. I am 20 years old and this was my third (consecutive) London Marathon. The previous two went horribly wrong - in the first, I was aiming for 3:10 but finished in 3:30; in the second, I wanted sub-3:00 and finished in 3

My VLM 2010: Katy Draper
By Katy Draper on 27/04/2010 14:56:39
Completing the London Marathon has been a goal of mine for 30 years - finally I have done it!
I had a place in the London Marathon in 2003 but unfortunately had to pull out after doing all of the training, as I had a chest infection during the taper. It was particulary sad because Dad was dying in hospital and was really looking forward

Running for Ellen - five years on
By Peter Housley on 26/04/2012 22:18:51
How I ran my first marathon at London 2012 for Children's Liver Disease Foundation, in memory of our daughter Ellen
.I decided to run the London Marathon this year after speaking to the CLDF Chief Executive at a memorial service last summer. It seemed a fitting time to run again to raise money for them, as it would be the fifth anniversary of Ellen's death. Luckily for me

By Paul Butler 3 on 26/04/2011 17:45:45
My second London Marathon, I finished in 4:14 and loved every step of the race.
Well, I have just completed my second London Marathon. My first one in 2009 was the last Flora sponsored event. I ran 4:27 in 2009 and was really disappointed and it was only a few days later I started to enjoy my achievement. This time in 2011 I

Putting it in perspective
By Trev Bryan on 26/04/2011 12:06:42
Finally discovering why so many people just want to finish the marathon no matter what it takes.
the Sunday before. I now understand why all those people entered and finished the race no matter how long it took them. I salute you all.I've entered the ballot for next year (2012) and although i'll go after a good time, I will be running with a different

Not as Planned....
My husband ran the race. In training, just about everything for months had gone to plan. He set off strong. The family saw him at mile 12 and he looked good and happy - he was aiming for four hours. We were all waiting on Birdcage Walk, banners
