By Debbie Southern on 18/04/2011 18:30:12
Gels make the tum very delicate and a toilet stop needed!
into the marathon again next year I think I will have to review my race day refuelling again!Anyone have any other ideas on how to refuel during races?!I am really pleased with my time and without the pit stop I may have just snuck in under the four-hour mark

The Medals
My first marathon completed and what a great day the London Marathon was (especially racing to Wembley after to see Stoke thrash Bolton 5-0) but the slight disappointment is the medals, there isn't anywhere to scribe your name and time onto them :(

London Marathon
By S HOWMAN on 18/04/2011 19:09:41
I have to say I was disappointed.
The London Marathon felt more like an obstacle course than a race. I spent half of every mile looking at the floor trying to dodge the half-empty discarded water bottles. After every Lucozade gel station the floor was like an ice rink where

My VLM 2010: Graham Goddard
By Graham Goddard 2 on 04/05/2010 13:10:23
I was tripped from behind and stumbled - within minutes, my left ankle was the size of a large golf ball
This was my second London Marathon (fifth marathon in total). Having run my first London Marathon very badly last year - due to lots of niggly injuries throughout training and major cramp on race day at Mile 14 - I was determined to put it right

Reaching for Lucozade, the person behind me clouted my ankles and sent me flying...
I was having a superb race. Everything was going to plan and I was looking to hit a PB, only to find that as I was reaching out for a Lucozade just after Mile 18 the person behind me clouted my ankles and sent me flying. I landed face down

To PB or not to PB, that is the question.

Desperate for a sub-2:50, I had my strategy set...
was anxious when at 9:10am I arrived at the Fast Good For Age pen. There was no time to look for the familiar faces from other races I was expecting to say hello to and indulge in the usual pre-race banter of hopes, expectations and fears. Instead, a quick

The was my sixth London Marathon - the first marathon for 15 years - the other five had gone really well, with my best time being 3hr 18mins. This one started off ok but by the fitth mile I had stomach cramps, why I don't know but I had to slow down

My VLM 2010: Dizzy (4:03)
By Dizzy on 03/05/2010 11:18:32
Marathon jinx - every time I enter a marathon, something always goes wrong, but I keep coming back for more...
. My last race leading up to the marathon was a half-marathon disaster - the pain from my foot slowed me to a not-so-speedy jog.During the race, St. John's were very kind in tending blisters on my good foot, although did look at me a bit strange when I

First Ever Marathon - Sub-4:00
of water with vitamin C and two paracetamol – yum!My kit was packed the night before and I was ready to leave at 7.30am. Being a VIP, Transport for London agreed to take me free of charge to Greenwich (as long as I could show my race number 41543). A short

Shall I enter another marathon?
By Sheila Wilson on 18/04/2011 13:55:51
The VLM 2011 was my first ever marathon. I was an hour behind target, but I am still really proud of myself.
The VLM 2011 was my first ever marathon and I'm asking myself if it will be my last. Yesterday, race day, I had definitely decided that I was never ever doing another marathon again, but 24 hours later, I am already wavering.I am extremely proud
