At other races the crowds cheer - in London they roar. What an amazing experience!
, first in my right calf then my left, which made me look a bit of a wimp as I winced and yelped. That was my Virgin London Marathon 2010. We all had a great weekend. We’ve raised a lot of money for Myeloma UK which is what we set out to do and I beat

How losing GPS signal in the Docklands upset my race-day strategy
, but at the the end my Garmin said 26.7 miles and 3:00:18. Reviewing the data, the GPS seemed to lose its accuracy a bit in the Docklands. What is most annoying though is that I was not too tired after the race. I'm not too stiff today and know I could have run

I have never experienced anything like it and suspect no other race will ever live up to the London Marathon
food, people offering you sweets, fruit, and high-fives! The camaraderie of both runners and supporters - it was brilliant. I have never experienced anything like it and suspect that no other race will live up to the London Marathon. The best moment

London Marathon 2011: My story of one of the greatest events in the world.
By Paul Butler 3 on 26/04/2011 17:45:45
My second London Marathon, I finished in 4:14 and loved every step of the race.
, an even split, 2:05 for the first 13.1 and 2:09 for the second half and I think this really helped. It was hotter than forecast, but not than I had expected, it's always hot on marathon weekend in London! Running through Canary Wharf it was like an oven

My first Virgin London Marathon - I’m a person who loves a challenge and my race was certainly that!
of makes me feel like a tough guy) but the bling of the medal just makes all of that fade and has put the silliest grin on my face.I will take 4:28:17 for my first marathon, thank you very much!I will take pride in the knowledge that I’m 0.1

By Pingu1874 on 26/04/2011 15:25:49
My VLM experience, taken from my blog at http://pingu1874.wordpress.com/ and written the day after the race.
Yesterday I completed the Virgin London Marathon. I have so much more to say about the whole experience that I really don’t know where to start.Sod it, I’ll launch straight into the race itself which didn’t entirely go to plan! To set some context

Sometimes running doesn't need to be about PBs - in what other sport can you compete in the same race as Olympic Champions?
This was my second London Marathon and certainly the most unprepared I have ever been for a race. I had deferred the previous year after being successful in the ballot, so knew I had to complete it this year. But towards the end of 2009 I

I have never given so many high-fives or smiled so much during a race - is it the end or the beginning? I’ll see you soon...
walk to Greenwich Park and 10 to 15 minutes to the starting area. Seeing the Red Start turned up my excitement-o-meter another notch to fever pitch - I'm sure you can appreciate how I was feeling, although I was also very calm (if you know what I mean

London Marathon 2011
By debbie morgan 2 on 28/04/2011 19:05:09
One word: agony
I had a problem with my achillies and was in agony by mile 8, however my personal trainer gave up his race to stay with me and he encouraged me, bullied me and supported me all the way to the finish line. I owe this race to him and can never thank
