The Medals

My first marathon completed and what a great day the London Marathon was (especially racing to Wembley after to see Stoke thrash Bolton 5-0) but the slight disappointment is the medals, there isn't anywhere to scribe your name and time onto them :(

London Marathon

I have to say I was disappointed.

The London Marathon felt more like an obstacle course than a race. I spent half of every mile looking at the floor trying to dodge the half-empty discarded water bottles. After every Lucozade gel station the floor was like an ice rink where

My VLM 2010: Graham Goddard

I was tripped from behind and stumbled - within minutes, my left ankle was the size of a large golf ball

This was my second London Marathon (fifth marathon in total). Having run my first London Marathon very badly last year - due to lots of niggly injuries throughout training and major cramp on race day at Mile 14 - I was determined to put it right

Reaching for Lucozade, the person behind me clouted my ankles and sent me flying...

I was having a superb race. Everything was going to plan and I was looking to hit a PB, only to find that as I was reaching out for a Lucozade just after Mile 18 the person behind me clouted  my ankles and sent me flying. I landed face down

To PB or not to PB, that is the question.

Desperate for a sub-2:50, I had my strategy set...

, grateful.Afterwards, I found out my pacing for the first two 5K sections was remarkably consistent at 19.32 each. Then, I was only aware I passed the halfway mark at about 1:23, so far so good, I was on track, but I felt more tired than I should do

Ups and Downs of London

The was my sixth London Marathon - the first marathon for 15 years - the other five had gone really well, with my best time being 3hr 18mins. This one started off ok but by the fitth mile I had stomach cramps, why I don't know but I had to slow down

Marathon jinx - every time I enter a marathon, something always goes wrong, but I keep coming back for more...

marathon...I arrived at the start of the VLM 2010 with loads of missed training, a very sore foot and absolutley everyone telling me I should not run. Even my boss told me that if I hurt my foot more it would be self-inflicted and not to expect any sympathy

Shall I enter another marathon?
By Sheila Wilson on 18/04/2011 13:55:51
The VLM 2011 was my first ever marathon. I was an hour behind target, but I am still really proud of myself.

The VLM 2011 was my first ever marathon and I'm asking myself if it will be my last. Yesterday, race day, I had definitely decided that I was never ever doing another marathon again, but 24 hours later, I am already wavering.I am extremely proud
