My odyssey that ended with a medal!

For months the words 'London Marathon' have given me a shiver of fear and excitement. I have never attempted anything this tough in my life. Following the 16-week Runner's World training plan for a sub-5:00  run, I diligently worked my way up to 20

I'd always said "no way" to 26.2 miles but this was one awesome, fantastic and memorable day!

Its  great to see how many first-time marathoners were running the Virgin London Marathon.  I was one too. A guy who at 58 has only been running two years, prior to which I'd been a couch potato for 20 years! Even when my girls got me running and I

I was tripped from behind and stumbled - within minutes, my left ankle was the size of a large golf ball

This was my second London Marathon (fifth marathon in total). Having run my first London Marathon very badly last year - due to lots of niggly injuries throughout training and major cramp on race day at Mile 14 - I was determined to put it right

Doomed, doomed I say ....

Well, my Virgin London Marathon in 2010 was supposed to be a triumph. I had racked up more miles than ever and was, I hoped, heading for a glorious 2:59.59.It was not to be, and really I knew that before I started. I was in the Good for Age start
