Amazing back pain at the base of my spine when running.

I've always had a bit of a dodgy back but recently after 5 or 10 minutes of running I get a numb pain the base of my spine crescendoing into agonising pain. It's brought on even worse when I run up hill. I'm currently doing some exercises
