Been curious about the alleged benefits of Caffeine on performance in endurance races (> 1hour). Based on current scientific thinking does anyone know:1) How much to take, I have heard values from 2-6 mg/Kg and as much as 600 mg total dose mentioned

HELP!!!!

OK - one article says improve your running time with a cup or two of caffeine before a race because it's a stimulant - another says avoid caffiene because it's a diuretic and will de-hydrate you .. D'OH!! Which way do we go now???? Drink the coffee

do you think caffeine (above a certain blood concentration) is a banned substance in elite eventsnot sure about the phosphoric acid... true it interferes with calcium take up, but that's not a problem short term is it? they give out flat coke

Who takes on caffeine before a run? How much and how long before you set off? How does it affect you?I take pro plus on days when I'm feeling unfit (which seems to be a lot). I don't know if I feel run down like this because of taking on caffeine

good for training, or just racing?

OK everybody knows caffeine helps fat metabolisation, is a banned drug above certain blood levels, and is therefore good to race withbut does anybody know if its good to train with?ie should you use it on LSD runs/bike rides whatever to assist
