about training programs. Your a begginer so you shouldn't even be doing anything like speedwork. You haven't told us about your running history, so it's tough to give you any advice at all... Thanks - it was a bit confusing as to what standard one ws
speedwork. They would also be able to run at a more comfortable pace and are FAR less likely to stop running and/or burn out. The beginner will improve just as quickly this way.And the very fact that beginners often "fall into" running means that mags like
every rule on there! If you use a Smartcoach plan, you put in a recent race time (for whatever distance you've recently raced) and it will base your tempo and speedwork paces that.It won't expect you to achieve a pace you are not capable of, although
the most I have run is 10k at a slowish pace and have not really done any speedwork.I am concerned that the RW schedule may be a bit intense for me being a beginner. Can anyone recommend to me the type of training I should be doing to get me round the 10k

Hi,I'm training for my first FLM and getting the very helpful and nerve calming weekly training schedule e-mailed to me by Runners World. However, I'm sure Im just being a dumb arse but I don't understand the instructuions for the SpeedWork
they're not you.JJ Kohl, my advise is to build up your endurance based running first before even thinking about speedwork. A 5 mile race in December is very achievable, and doing a couple of 10ks is a good plan, then I would try a half marathon in your
trainers though ! Get the walk/run program from the training section. Most of us have been there - 2 miles is not a measly distance for a beginner. When I started as a smoker and overweight I couldn't run for more than 2 mins. Slow down and don't expect too
