Concrete
by Mark Baldwin

I just run my first half marathon. It took 2hr which was 15minutes slower than I did 13miles in training 2 weeks before. Naturally I was disapointed, but I put it down to the fact it was all on concrete (I have never run on concrete before

Concrete or Treadmill
by Suzanne Brander

CALF MUSCLES LIKE CONCRETE!
HELP by Kerry Brown 4

couple of days they tighten up so much by the time I come to run again it feels like I have two concrete blocks on the back of my legs. It then takes half my run to get them loosened up.  I run between 3-4 miles 3 times a week.  I have a 5 minute brisk

Ankles just starting to hurt - on concrete?
by Gareth Bidder

then suddenly giving them a 9k whacking on a solid surface would be similar to a beginner running 9k from scratch.(Well, not quite, but almost).Try cutting right back on the miles you do on the (hard) road, and build back up gradually. Concrete is the worst

Pavement hell
How to escape the concrete by adrian whitfield

on the road rather than the pavement - tarmac is very slightly more forgiving than concrete - and saves the constant up and down of kerbs and driveways. Grassland isn't necessarily much better for your ankles and knees unless you can guarantee it's flat
