Injury free running
by Megatouch Force

carried away just yet ... We live in a world of concrete and tarmac, and for most of us, at least in developed countries, our feet have been out of practice for hundreds of years. Some people have developed such serious biomechanical problems

Which is the softest terrain out of these?
by Johannes Jacobsson

't get that Meldy, how do you mean? One has got to be softer than the other? I know that asphalt is softer to run on than concrete (it's more gently on your shins), but how about the three i posted? Doesn't anyone know? It depends on whether the treadmill

Heel height in shoes

walking etc. but that's why I'm not a podiatrist I suppose..... Maybe we aren't designed to walk or run on concrete or tarmac ? A raised can however, is sometimes needed as in my case, to help the foot take on a more natural action. Apparently my foot did

How bad are pavements?!
Question from a newbie! by Joy

the result was increasing too fast, but also running on concrete paths definitely didn't help. I find running on concrete very uncomfortable but if I want to run mid-week outside It's the only option. I'm going to get better shoes, and stay off concrete

Injury troubles
by Siany

'm no expert on it but it sort of makes sense to me that if you're not used to a fair amount of running on concrete that when you finally do it over 26 miles, your body won't cope with it). I'd be interesting to hear some more expert views/results of studies

Great Langdale full and 1/2 marathon
Sun 8th Sept by Laura L

- having lived in the Lakes for a year I'm really finding it hard to adjust to 'concrete jungle' running. Slowboy, entries are possible on the day if there are spare places; the details specify a limit of 500, but don't know how popular it is.It's only £8
