Barefoot versus shod: comparison of physiological effort
Test of physiological effort of barefoot running compared to shod on an outdoor athletic track. by Christof Schwiening

OK, I have attempted to compare physiological effort (using heart beats per km) for shod running compared to barefoot on an outdoor synthetic athletics track. I have used two subjects and as many repeats as possible given the time available. I post

disappointed with effort
Sunday run just 6 miles! by JacquieNeale

Short or long efforts?
What's the best by Aud

I'm trying to increase my base speed by doing efforts. At the moment I can't do an effort for very long, so I'm wondering if during a run I do quite a few short bursts of efforts, will this do the same as fewer longer efforts? Also phsycologically

by whizzy

I am just curious to know what the perceived wisdom amongst forumites is for the 'rest' period between 1000m efforts, 1 minute, 2 minutes, don't stop, just jog slowly for 500m, or what?  Working on doing about 4 - 6 1k efforts. So what are
