Spikes?!
by Evergreen Terrace

-8 mudroc 290, but they hurt on the heel and after 6 races I swopped to adidas neptune spikes. All spikes feel strange when you wear them in the shop but on grass they feel OK, but if you come across hard ground during a race there not so good

Lower back pain
by David Bailey 8

techniques for avoiding this? try running on grass or a soft surface like gravel or something other than pavement. You might also want to try thinner soled shoes - this will stop you heel striking - big heels / air bubbles et al just compound the problem

It hurts
what could this pain be! by myway

you were running? coudl of just pulled a muscle, but try figure out the pain your self, and did you just fall into this 6 mile run and never trained up for it?  but like barking said, it can be lots of things...  Grass isn't a perfect alternative

Dunsfold 10K (2011)
by Philip Baker 7

off the runway on the grass. Why would you do that? Perfect smooth runway to start on and 209events put it on bumpy grass and then you run up the side of the runway on a broken concrete strip. Did the aerodrome owners force them to put the start

Knees Must
It's my knees versus the tarmac, and the tarmac's winning! by LaurieW

I've started running quite recently and find that my knees aren't so much sore after a run as really noisy. My doctor* has advised me that it would be best to try to run on grass, but having recently moved to York, I have no idea where I can run
