than usual, due to both hot weather and the abundant supply. I've done some digging around on the net and come up with the term hyponatraemia, which apparently is a serious condition where excessive water causes a loss of sodium from the blood

Anybody read the artical in the SUN newspaper today about drinking too much water. It can cause what is called hyponatraemia which can reduce sodium and potassium levels in the blood. Anything else health thats going to be bad for us? Any views

, but thanks for the explanation. I'm still struggling to manage 2 litres a day which I thought was about right. 2 litres certainly shouldn't cause you any problems. Drinking too much water can cause hyponatraemia, when your body fluids become short of sodium

. The risks of hyponatraemia are overstated by people who want to sell you stuff to treat/prevent it.It is possible to do if you drink loads of water AND you have an exaggerated stress response, which causes you to retain water hence diluting your sodium

Keynes who completed FLM in 3:50. Such sad news. They are now saying that it was due to:"hyponatraemia. The condition, a lack of sodium in his body, can be caused by drinking too much water." Very, very sad. My thoughts and condolences are with his

depletion (hyponatraemia) and the cramps and tiredness associated with same towards the end of my long runs due to the large amount of fluids I consume. I have recently discovered that Power Bar gels contain sodium but I dont find them as good as Lucozade
