First marathon - Goals?
by runningsnail

Thanks! Rule of thumb for a possible marathon finish time is double your half mara time plus 15-20 mins, so if you average a 1:50 half then you might do about 4 hours.  For your first mara, I'd suggest setting a number of goals:- don't get injured or ill

Half marathon goal
1:45 from 2hrs - can this be done? by BigJohnson

I ran Nottingham half marathon last year as my very first half, in fact my very first ever event in a time of 2:01:50. I'd set a target of 2hrs so was slightly dissapointed to miss out. This year I want more! I've set myself a goal of 1

Sub-4 Marathon goal
Help? by Teknik

between the two Thanks dean101I guess that would be the link between the 40m per week and the 50m+ Solent Runner was suggesting (assuming I build up to it over a few weeks). What pace should I run a 12 miler - goal marathon pace? My HM PB is 1.43 but I

Next Marathon Goal?
What to aim for next? by Minks

really good experience. I agree with Shades and Lizzy that 3.45 is a good next goal for the marathon, except if you're feeling as good as you did at London in the final 6 miles next time I'd be tempted to push harder and hurt a bit more-that's me!Are you

half marathon time goal
by daley76

, well done you! I think realistic goals are the way forward - I took 8 mins out of my half marathon times last year in the three races I did - Obvioulsy over different courses but I was still over the moon with each of them and am going back to do them

New marathon/race goal

Hi all, Over my last few marathons I've managed to achieve some of the widely acknowledged marathon goals (Boston Qualification, sub 3hr). Set PB at last marathon of 2.49. However I'm struggling for motivation a bit now as it seems slightly
