Marathon Recovery
by Giddy Plodder

I ran my first marathon about a month ago but I'm still tired. Running ok but I just feel like I could sleep for Britain. Any tips on recovery? I'd just stop running (I'm running about 15miles a week at the moment) but I'm running 180 miles

runners can run marathons almost every weekend without too much trouble. Those who race very fast and really push themselves in the marathon usually need a longer recovery. If you've done all the training, you'll recover much faster than if you go

so what's going on? Why can't I run? by Stickless

on these forums.Dave I think the rule of thumb for marathon recovery is one day per mile - so you should be taking it easy for at least 3 weeks after a marathon. That doesn't mean no running, just no speedwork, hills, races.....[hard stare at Susie

Whats wrong with me!? by Runner202

!BTW - Well done!   From my experience I reckon it takes 3 weeks to recover from a marathon - your not just recovering from the race but also from the training!  For the first week after I do nothing at all other than walk and eat! Second week 3 x recovery
