Calcium Pyruvate
Anyone seen any hard evidence for the claims? by Lawrie Cornell

Hi,I have seen a lot of claims being made in adverts for Calcium Pyruvate about it increasing endurance, etc., but I haven't seen any scientific evidence which backs these up.The adds often quote the following article:"Med Sci Sports Exerc 1998 Jun

Lactic Acid
by Chris Franklin

of anerobic glycolysis or fermentation, L-lactate is produced from pyruvate via the enzyme lactate dehydrogenase. This conversion also oxidizes one molecule of NADH to NAD+, and this is the reason for the conversion: NAD+ has to be regenerated so

Lactate Testing
Can you buy a kit? by Pantman

are talking about lactate produced in muscle that is somehow ejected into the blood stream. The problem is that human red blood cells have lactate tranport proteins that hoover up the monocarboxylic acid and then once inside the rbc turn it back into pyruvate

Hitting the wall
This may be common knowledge but it wasn't to me. by Dodge

(come on we eat and gulp gels on the way round packed with sugar). No its back to the little mitochondria.Once the body goes into overdrive in glycolysis (the process of breaking down carbohydrates to obtain energy) then it produces loads of PYRUVATE

Internet articles have confused me? by Lee-sterine (M.)

concentration begins to rise. This is a beneficial process [which] ensures that energy production is maintained and exercise can continue.  The increased lactate produced can be removed in a number of ways includingoxidation to pyruvate by well-oxygenated muscle
