can this contribute to overtraining by lottabottle runs

Hi I have been gently running since january and have now started to really enjoy it and am following a half marathon training plan, straight after my long run (7 miles) my hubby met me with my dogs and we took them for a 5 mile walk. i didnt really

classes at the gym, mainly spinning, weights and combat I thought I'd start training now and have looked at the run/walk schedule, does anyone know if this can be adapted to suit i.e can I run for 8 mins and walk for 1 min, will this have the same effect
