quite an intense shooting pain down my right shin, it normally recedes after a few minutes. There are no lumps that would indicate shin splints and in any case I would have thought my runs are not of sufficient intensity to cause this. I'm not sure

research me thinks. Commonest cause of shin pain would be shin splints- This is really inflammation where the muscles attach to the bones- Usually if too much training too soon/etc,,If not already done i would advise get foot type properly assessed so you

I ran 6 miles on Dec 13 and now have pain on my inner left shin area, slightly off centre about 2 inches above my ankle, It was so bad I could barely walk for 10 days. I did the usual RICE and then started back walking 3 miles a day. I continued
