I know this is properly a very vast subject in which you could talk about for hours, but I realise that incorporating speed sessions into your training is beneficial. However, right from the start I have always just ran on a near daily basis

Speed Session
My legs won't work! by Roz

Well, this is my first speed session for about 2 years! Before that, I just did fartlek or tempo running but then got injured. Now my legs won't work! I try to inject some pace but they do feel like lead! I suppose it is practice makes perfect

I train at a pace of about 9:30/10:00 miles, I do about 25/30 miles a week. What my problem is that when I decide to do so speed sessions I get pain in both my hamstrings. I have trying interval training tempo fartlik etc but every time I try

for about 30 minutes do I do this once a week?? No expert but you are on the right track by starting off speed sessions with 3 mins fast and 3 mins slow. Remember to warm up properly by walking/jogging before beginning the faster bits.How often do you run

In the latest edition of RW there is a section on Speed sessions and it talks about specific training for HM and Marathons (10 miles - 2 jogging, 2 at M pace +40 repeated 3 times with 2 mins jogging in between, and 2 miles jogging at the end
