Do strength training exercises for the legs such as squats,dead lifts etc actually improve your running ability? Or are they counter productive? Anything that improves your core stability will be good for your running

I think all runners' have their own individual strengths that they bring to their running, whether it be speed, stamina, good tactician, endurance......For me personally I feel my strength in running is my endurance. I'm one of those people
