what exactly are strides??

hiim following a training program for a sub 1hr 45 min half marathon.some runs include, for instance 200m strides. i have been doing these as long slow paces is this right or am i totally missing the point?thanks roger Strides mate are Australian

Lengthening My Stride

When in the gym, I look around and see others on the treadmills loping along at about the same "pace" (strides per minute) as me, but obviously covering much more ground as they are going about 2 kph faster than me. One guy was almost walking at 11

I am just starting out on a new marathon training plan and one of the days says:Tue 4M (approx 35 mins) slow with a few gentle strides Fair enough, but I'm just not sure what it means, can anyone help. Something along the lines of 4 or 5 x ~150m

into the distance -you call that running- there walk speed was my run (i was gutted) after them telling all my other collegues who had a great laugh they told me just increase your stride but i dont know how to acheive this any advice so maybe one day i can do
