Hi I am new to the Forums, I did the London Marathon in April and ever since I have had a feeling of a tight hamstring in my left leg. Its fine for about 6 miles but gradually feels tighter and tighter on the outside of the hamsting and I feel that my stride suffers because of this. It isnt a pain it just feels like its going to pull or cramp. I  stretch well before and have an ice bath after 6 miles+ runs. My Hamstrings arent short and can stretch them really well. Please Help? Agree with lazytoad.I normally am OK until after about 3 miles and then I get a dull pain in my left leg hamstring. Went to physio and he gave me a run down of the hamstring, explaining there are 3 muscles involved. Used bags of water as an analogy , saying that they contact with each other and move and rub together, usually smoothly. Mine tend to stick with each other, like the bags are wet on the outside, so they don't move freely against each other. He has to 'pare' them apart. I need to go and have a few more sessions, as I had only one and thought that I could run it off !Definitely go to the physio.

ignore tight hamstrings at your peril. my ankle eventually gave in causing a visit to a +e and my first experience of crutches.visit the physio, strap that left ankle .Sorry to be a doom monger(one year on i'm nearly up to speed again),the extent of my injury was caused by my own head in the sand attitude. All the best=+
