Having had to give up on my place in this years London Marathon I entered the
New
York
Marathon which is on 6th Nov. Really looking forward to it and am now in to week 2 of my training proramme.Question: I am following the Heart Monitor Training programme as described by John L Parker Jr - the idea being that you train your body to burn fat by running slowly. As you improve you find that your speed picks up (quite significantly) for the same amount of effort. That part is great and works well for me. I have also purchased some Gel bars though for training and the Race itself. This is giving a glucose / glycogen boost every 25 mins or so - but I am concerned that this may be impeding the work that I am doing. Does anyone have any experience of this?My training blog is here
