"it just my body needing to adjust to different surfaces?"probablyroad surfaces are much less forgiving than treadmills which is probably why you have some soreness. sure, it could also be the shoes as the softer treadmill surface maybe masking some issue, so get your gait checked if it continues. otherwise, build up the road miles slowly so you get used to the harder surfaces

Hi everyone, I run 7-10k on the treadmill 3 times a week and have done for the last few years.  My husband has decided he wants to get fit but refuses to join the gym so I offered to run outside with him.  We did our first 5k walk/run on Monday evening and it felt great running out in the fresh air, but the muscle in the front of my right leg is now really sore and stiff.  I have Asics GT2150s for the gym as I tend to slightly overpronate.  I rarely experience pain from treadmill running and wondered if my shoes were the issue when running outside... should I invest in some even more supportive trainers for road running?  Has anyone else experienced a similar issue or is it just my body needing to adjust to different surfaces?  Giving up is not an option, especially as I want to finally enter a race next year Thanks in advance, I look forward to your advice!! x
