some...erm... leaves... grabbed a handful of what i thought was grass... turned out to be stinging nettles.... only realised when it was too late.... i ended up not running AND having the MOST PAINFUL 1 mile walk home ive ever experienced

's degrees below zero! Do you run through nettles? it sounds like exercise-induced urticaria to me.  If antihistamine tablets don't help, then something in cream form which you can apply directly to the rash may be beneficial - have a word with a pharmacist
