Any point in a race only shoe?

Does having a lightweight race day shoe make much difference over 10k and above?I can imagine it being worthwhile having a racing pair to use for track events, but is it worthwhile sacrificing cushoning and stability for longer distance races

What lightweight racing shoes do you recommend?

used Mizuno Wave Phantoms for London and Edinburgh marathons this year...Great shoes! No foot probs at all.I'm about 10 stone and 3:55 pace.they have also been good on shorter races.
