by A second recommendation for Julian Baggini - very readable bloke, almost journalistic in his style, so you can delve into it on the train, in the bath etc. Alain de Botton similarly. Baggini edits The Philospher Magazine, which is a great place

anyone doing this?

narrow in places, but i run along the towpaths all the time for my training so for me this race had a good mix.  Looks like peeps really enjoyed the event.A shame that after everything, I wasn't there. I had the lurgy & was laid up all weekend. Still

What girly cycling gear would you recommend for the winter months?

 I invest in for winter training? I think Assos have a winter jacket thats meant to be the dogs doodahs.  It is about £200 though and makes you look like someone off Captain Scarlet. lewis Kit do nice Merino socks cheaply. Planet X do cheap neoprene shoe covers. Gloves

part time and then make the switch.If you want to use some of your existing skills why not train as a HIPS Surveyor / Asbestos Surveyor / DDA Consultant / Energy Advisor and then you can work on a self employed basis and then free up some time to do
