Adidas Boston £60

Weartesters raved about last summer’s update of the Boston. They loved the deep yet responsive cushioning, and the way the ride was made so smooth by the deep lengthways grooves and hollows in the outsole and midsole. This spring’s update changes little, with a new upper, a full blown-rubber outsole in the forefoot for a springier ride and a better stability shank in the radically hollowed-out midsole, which genuinely stops the shoe from twisting in the midfoot. Add to this a plastic Torsion plate that extends all the way to the forefoot for a more positive toe-off, and you have one of the very best shoes you can buy for £60. If you’re a neutral runner who’s in the market for a light, enjoyable everyday shoe, this should be high on your list.
In short Think of the Boston as a lighter, sportier alternative to Adidas’s £60 workhorse, the Response, or a cheaper take on the £70 Supernova Cushion. It’s a gem of a shoe for biomechanically neutral runners.
Try it if you liked Nike Air Pegasus 2002 (£60); Adidas Supernova (£70); Asics Gel Cumulus (£64.99)
