Evaluation The Equipment Neftanga is one of the very best racing shoes on the market for distances under 5K. Its entire forefoot is made from Adidas’s springy Adiprene+ cushioning material, which gives it an incredibly smooth, flexible feel. It’s also very light, but wearable at the same time, thanks to a shape that’s not excessively curved.
The new version keeps the original’s excellent midsole and outsole, and changes the upper for one with a zipped cover over the usual laces. This adds 16g to the original weight, but Adidas limits the damage as much as possible by replacing the rest of the upper with a completely open mesh. Want to hear the surprise? The zipped upper fits even better than the conventional version. It’s better sculpted in the midfoot, and roomier in the toebox. As ever at this weight, it’s only a shoe for light, efficient runners.
