Evaluation The Mangostin takes the mantle of being the lightest racer on the UK market. It’s 11g lighter than New Balance’s outrageous RC150, and both are 60-70g lighter than what most efficient runners would consider their safe limit for short-distance races. But as a showcase shoe for very light, extremely fast runners, it’s fascinating. The upper is an extremely light, soft mesh, with minimal shaping, but it’s the mesh outsole that saves the most weight. (This web mesh is a risk on wet ground and will have minimal durability, but that’s not the point.) If you’re wondering how the rides of the Mangostin and the RC150 compare, the RC150 is firmer (and more responsive) and less stable – but frankly there are hardly any runners who could wear either of these shoes even for a 5K race without risking injury.
