Evaluation The Gel Creed replaces the Gel Zeta, which weartesters really warmed to over the last year. At first, the Zeta didn’t seem to offer much over the £70 2070, beyond newer technology, but its added protection and better fit gradually made it a shoe that we reached for more and more, especially on longer runs.
The Creed has the same sort of identity, and its changes aren’t necessarily better, just different. The Impact Guidance system (IGS), has been tweaked to become mildly less stable in the rearfoot but balanced with a longer medial post, and also extended in the forefoot to increase stability there. There’s also a bigger Gel pad to cope with a wider range of heel strikes. Will you notice the difference? Only that the heel sits a little higher off the ground and seems fractionally less stable.
You’ll definitely notice the voluminous fit, though: the Gel Creed must have one of the roomiest forefoots on the market.
In short The Gel Creed is a nice high-impact stability shoe, best for big mileages, bigger runners, or anyone who just wants some extra protection underfoot. It’s notable for its roomy forefoot fit.
Try it on if you liked Asics Gel Zeta (£90); Saucony 3D GRID Hurricane (£80); Nike Air Kantara (£90)
