Evaluation
The Nimbus is Asics’s top-end shoe for neutral runners, and it’s effectively a more durable bigger brother to the £60 Cumulus. That’s mainly because it uses a denser midsole material called SpEVA, which, along with durability, gives the shoe a firmer, more positive feel.
This autumn’s Nimbus is 27g lighter than before, and only 14g heavier than the Cumulus. This makes it more attractive to lighter runners, without obviously losing any of the qualities that make it a good shoe for bigger runners. The upper has lost a little weight (and it’s now much broader in the forefoot), and so has the outsole, which now has a flexible, cutaway DuoSole design in the forefoot.

In short
If you liked the last Nimbus, you’ll love this one. It’s still smooth, cushioned and durable – and now its 27g lighter. It’s a great shoe for orthoses-wearers, and now it’s even better for runners with wide feet.
