Asics Gel Nimbus 3 £79.99
Weight 353g
Evaluation The Nimbus is Asicss top-end shoe for neutral runners, and its effectively a more durable bigger brother to the £60 Cumulus. Thats mainly because it uses a denser midsole material called SpEVA, which, along with durability, gives the shoe a firmer, more positive feel.
This autumns Nimbus is 27g lighter than before, and only 14g heavier than the Cumulus. This makes it more attractive to lighter runners, without obviously losing any of the qualities that make it a good shoe for bigger runners. The upper has lost a little weight (and its now much broader in the forefoot), and so has the outsole, which now has a flexible, cutaway DuoSole design in the forefoot.
In short If you liked the last Nimbus, youll love this one. Its still smooth, cushioned and durable and now its 27g lighter. Its a great shoe for orthoses-wearers, and now its even better for runners with wide feet.
Try it on if you liked Asics Gel Nimbus 2 (£70); Brooks Hyperion 2 (£80); Mizuno Wave Rider (£75)
