This model may still be available on clearance. But we've reviewed a newer version since we published this.
The Gel Preleus is an all-new model that now gives Asics three serious cushioning shoes. It sits between the £60 Gel Cumulus
and the £85 Gel Nimbus
, with slightly more cushioning than the former and slightly softer, less responsive cushioning than the latter. It also has a snugger fit than either.
Jazzy upper aside, the Preleus is a safe, conventional cushioning shoe, with a large rearfoot Gel cushioning pad, forefoot Gel and a centre-of pressure design in the rearfoot. Its a good example of Asicss smooth heel-to-toe ride and flexible forefoot feel, even if its chunky midsole through the rearfoot and forefoot make it more of a reliable distance shoe than a brisk model. If you have no biomechanical problems but nevertheless want a reasonably stable base to do long runs on, the Preleus is aimed at you. Still, do try the £60 Cumulus alongside it. Some weartesters noticed little difference between the two.
The Gel Preleus is a neutral shoe for runners who dont need the firmer, more expensive responsiveness of the Gel Nimbus. Its a safe, reliable cushioning shoe.
