Asics Gel Verdict £64.99
Posted:

Weight

Evaluation
Asicss lightweight trainers are nearly always gems of stripped-down performance, and this replacement to the Gel Lyte DS fits the bill. Its not cushioned enough for long distances on hard surfaces, but for responsiveness and smoothness and decent forefoot grip from the Duosole its excellent.
If it looks familiar, thats because the outsole and midsole are exactly the same as those of the old Lyte DS 5, a couple of generations back. All thats new is the upper, which has a stretch one-piece design and a narrower, snugger feel in the forefoot.
In short
Its basic, but its 25g lighter than the last version of the Gel Lyte DS, which it replaces. The Gel Verdict is a super-responsive shoe for fast training or longer racing, though its cushioning means its best on grass.

I'm thinking of using the aforementioned shoe for racing London this year. Has anyone used this shoe for racing longer distances? This will be my eighth marathon, my racing weight is around 12 stone and I have previously raced in performance trainers such as these. I am hoping to go under 3 hours for the first time this year (pb 3:09).
