Brooks Glycerin £85

Evaluation We thought last year’s Glycerin was a nice enough high-mileage, neutral shoe but its high price meant it was unlikely you’d choose it over other cheaper, but equally competent, shoes. The price hasn’t changed, but has the Glycerin?
Yes. The new Glycerin is a top-rate update. It now offers a great combination of cushioning and stability. In fact, despite only a single density, the Glycerin rivals some true stability models for support. That’s thanks to a wide last, a plastic midfoot shank and a substantial flare on the medial side of the rearfoot. The shoe also has a great fit.
On the cushioning front, there’s a visible Hydroflow pad in the rearfoot, the same cushioning system in the forefoot and a new cushioning pad under the big toe. Brooks has also opted to soften the forefoot outsole material, which adds to the cushy ride.
In short A decent shoe has become a very good shoe thanks to Brooks’s changes. A nice, plush feel allied to a very stable ride means the Glycerin now makes more sense for this price.
