In among some indifferent models, Fila has some genuinely impressive shoes. One of its best is the £55, 304g performance trainer called the Flow
– and the new FGT1000 sits alongside this shoe in fit and feel. The FGT1000 is more of a light everyday trainer than a performance shoe, but it has a gloriously sleek fit that manages to hug your foot like a glove while leaving plenty of room in the forefoot.
It also has Fila’s trademark – a smooth, quick forefoot feel, which in this case is augmented by Fila’s Speedtech carbon-Kevlar plate. This gives the forefoot more structure and a more positive feel than the Flow. As you’d expect in a shoe that’s 30g heavier than the Flow, the FGT1000 also has more rearfoot cushioning.
If you want a quick everyday training shoe, the Fila FGT1000 is worth going out of your way to find. It’s smooth, light, pretty stable for a neutral shoe – and it has a great fit.
