Evaluation If you liked last years Wave Phoenix and theres every reason you would have done youll enjoy the 2001 version. This protective, supportive budget shoe keeps the same thick, cushioned midsole, durable outsole, and fan-shaped stability Wave plate as before; all Mizuno has done is rework the light mesh upper.
The Wave Phoenix isnt a shoe for anyone with major stability problems, but its broad base and effective midsole support make it a safe option for stability-oriented neutral runners and mild overpronators. Its also one of the best-looking shoes you can buy under £60 in fact, its very easy to mistake it for the £75
Wave Rider.
In short The Wave Phoenix is a reassuring constant at the £50 mark. Its a perfect beginners shoe, but it wouldnt let experienced runners down either.
Try it on if you liked Nike Air Alate (£50); New Balance 878 (£65)
