This model may still be available on clearance. But we've reviewed a newer version since we published this.

Weight 335g
Evaluation The Wave Rider was our shoe of the year for 2000, and with good reason. It’s light and responsive, and yet well-cushioned and protective. Your foot sits close enough to the ground for a confident, positive feel, and yet there’s ample shock absorption.
The good news is that very little has changed in the 2001 model. Mizuno has made the outsole more substantial in the forefoot, which should avoid any premature wear. Also, a visible VS1 cushioning pad has been added to the heel-strike area, and the upper’s cosmetics have been changed. In theory, the changes should give a slightly softer heel-strike and a fractionally less flexible forefoot, but in practice our testers didn’t notice any difference. The only noticeable change is that there’s less vertical space in the forefoot than before. That’s because Mizuno has added something called Intercool: forefoot channels designed to move air under your feet.
In short Except for a shallower forefoot fit, the Wave Rider is essentially the same great cushioned shoe as it was last year – and this year it’s £5 cheaper. It’s suitable for anyone who doesn’t have pronounced stability needs, and it’s especially good for faster runners.
