Evaluation The Supreme Control DMXi is Reebok’s best motion control shoe in years, and you won’t find anything more stable on the market. It uses a huge, solid plastic shank to reinforce a conventional second-density medial post, and boosts rigidity underneath the shoe with another shank to eliminate unwanted twisting. Combine that with a broad, totally straight last and a tough, supportive upper, and you have as much antipronation control as it is possible to provide in an off-the-shelf shoe.
Weartesters agreed that this was a model for heavy, severe overpronators only. Lighter runners would find the cushioning too firm, and the shoe’s stiffness drew a mixed response. Testers appreciated the support that the rigidity offered, but noted that although the midsole broke in over time, it still didn’t lend itself well to faster running.
Also (a side-effect of the shoe’s huge motion control capacity): all testers commented on the Supreme Control’s weight.
In short Supreme Control by name, supreme control by nature: this is a brute of a shoe with unbeatable antipronation qualities. But it’s only for heavier runners.
